Tenured physics professor Denis Rancourt was fired in 2009 under the pretext of improper grading in one course.

- After years of unilaterally refusing to go to arbitration, THIS also-on-going Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) application of unfair labour practice against president Allan Rock and the University of Ottawa appears to have been the catalyst for the university accepting to follow the law and start the needed arbitration.
- Also, the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) is in mid Independent Inquiry into the breaches of Rancourt's academic freedom, including the dismissal, in this major Canadian academic freedom case, see LINK.
